The Tattoos Design publishes design-focused tattoo content. This page explains how we work.

Our Editorial Standards

Every article is fact-checked against credible sources (cultural references, tattoo industry publications, dermatology research where relevant for aftercare). Every recommendation is grounded in concrete criteria (placement, sizing, style hallmarks), not vague enthusiasm.

How We Choose Topics

Topics come from three signals: search demand for specific motifs and styles, design questions that recur in tattoo communities, and gaps in existing tattoo design coverage online (motifs poorly explained or romanticized without cultural context).

We do not accept paid placement for topic selection.

How Articles Are Produced

Each article goes through:

  1. Research from credible sources (cultural references, industry publications, peer-reviewed dermatology where applicable)
  2. Drafting with AI assistance, reviewed by a human editor with tattoo industry experience
  3. Fact-checking against the source list
  4. Final review for clarity, voice, and adherence to our style standards

Our Use of AI

We use large-language-model tools to assist research and drafting. All articles are reviewed and edited by a human before publication. AI is a writing tool, like a word processor with extra features, and we are accountable for the published result.

Affiliate Links & Independence

Some articles may include affiliate links to product retailers (for example, aftercare products or design downloads). When they are present, we disclose them at the top of the relevant article and in our Disclaimer. Our recommendations are never influenced by affiliate commissions: we link to products we’d recommend regardless. We are not currently part of a paid affiliate program.

Corrections & Updates

If you spot a factual error or a cultural reference that’s incorrect or insensitive, please contact us. We update articles, log the change, and refresh the lastUpdated date in the frontmatter.
